The bank recently initiated FRIS, a new Fraud Risk Identification Service to protect you from ATM/debit card fraud. The new program uses historical data or transactions to "learn" how to recognize the difference between customary card holder use and fraudulent behavior for each specific cardholder.
Each transaction processed through the MasterCard® and Visa® authorization systems is scored for FRIS and generates a "risk score." This score represents the probability that the signature debit transaction, ATM or pinned POS transaction could be fraudulent. Due to the higher level of fraud, international signature debit completions and international pinned transactions are scored as well.
Here's what you need to know:
- You may receive a call to verify certain card transactions if your risk score is high
- This new program could block the use of your ATM/ debit card if it shows unusual card activity.
- Customers on vacation may be impacted because card usage is sometimes inconsistent with normal usage patterns.
- If you try to use your card and find the credit signature based option is declined, try using it as a debit transaction with your secure pin number or try accessing an ATM.
It's important to notify Retail Support at 888-918-4473 if you are planning a trip or special purchase where your ATM/ debit card will be used inconsistently from your normal usage so your card can be set up to accept these charges to your card.
